Eve Duncan's mission in life is to bring closure to the families who have experienced the agony of a missing child. As a forensic sculptor, she is able to piece together bones, create a face, and match a name to a child who would have otherwise gone unidentified. Eve is brilliant, driven, and tormented - because her own daughter, Bonnie, was taken from her years ago. Now, with the help of CIA agent Catherine Ling, a startling piece of evidence is uncovered in the quest to find Bonnie, leading to a connection that had been all but buried. Catherine challenges Eve with a name: John Gallo, a man from Eve's own past, seemingly raised from the dead, whose whereabouts are unknown. Could Gallo be the missing piece to the puzzle that has haunted Eve for years? Why was he in Atlanta just before Bonnie's disappearance? And what kind of darkness was he hiding? With a brilliant narrative that exposes Eve Duncan's early life, exploring her history and motivations like no other novel before, Eve reveals long-guarded secrets and is guaranteed to keep Johansen fans holding their breath for more.

" Yet another wonderful mystery. As usual with Ms. Johansen (when she writes by herself), it is almost impossible to put down. This is one book you want to read all in one time. No good place to put it down and sleep or work! "

" An enjoyable read, but there was nothing outstanding about the characters or plot. "

" I was very disappointed with this book. I like the character of Jane McGuire and MacDuff, but this book seemed to veer off course and not stick with what the author set up in previous books. Previously, MacDuff was insanely after Jane and she had strong feelings for him. Then in this book MacDuff plays such a small role and never really even talks to Jane after the second chapter. Meanwhile, she is intrigued with Caleb, and all this happens under MacDuff's nose. Strange and disjointed. Not a very good thriller, either. "

" Maybe the Eve Duncan series is just getting old to me, or maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this one. I didn't think this one of the series was as good as the others. I love Iris Johansen's style of writing but for some reason this one seemed to drag & her filling the reader in on previous characters made the story lack some of the excitement of her previous writings. "

" Very Good; Continuing character: Eve Duncan; Eve's adopted daughter Jane runs afoul of a cult that worships Judas Iscariot and has torture on its agenda; getting into the paranormal a little too much "
