Publisher Description

Sometimes saying sorry is harder than it seems ...

Ellen Tebbits is convinced she'll die of embarrassment if any of the girls at school discover her secret. But then she meets Austine Allen, a new girl in class who's hiding the very same secret. Instantly, the two become best friends. They do everything together, from clapping erasers to riding horses. Ellen quickly learns that embarrassing secrets and pesky troublemakers like Otis Spofford aren't so bad when you have someone special to stick up for you. But then Ellen does something terrible that makes Austine stop speaking to her. Will she ever be able to prove how sorry she is?

"I enjoyed reading this book by Beverly Cleary. This is the second book to the three book series. Ralph is sick of living at the hotel and having to share his motorcycle with his family. What does Ralph do? He decides to run away on his motorcycle to where ever it takes him. Ralph ends up at a summer camp a few miles away from the hotel. He has all sorts of troubles and conflicts, like losing his motorcycle and getting trapped by a human. He becomes friends with the human and asks him if he can take Ralph back to the hotel where he belongs. I would recommend this book to younger kids in elementart or middle school because it is easy to read and has childish humor."

" Finished this one as a read aloud with our four year old. She has really enjoyed the Ralph books, though I think this was her least favorite as he was not really active and mostly in the cage at the summer camp. "

" One of the first books I ever read, this is a great 'hightalin' adventure. It has great, rememberable characters that are fun to read about. I would most definatly recomend this book, and it's two companions Ralph S. Mouse and The Mouse and the Motercycle for 3-5th grade kids who are looking for a simple, fun adventure book. "

About Beverly Cleary

Beverly Cleary (1916–2021) was an American author of highly acclaimed fiction for children and young adults, including the Henry Huggins series, Ramon Quimby series, stand-alone novels, picture books, and two memoirs. Some of her many awards include the Newbery Medal, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, and the National Medal of Arts. She was born in McMinnville, Oregon, and lived on a farm in Yamhill, a town so small it had no library. Her mother arranged to have books sent to their tiny town from the state library and acted as a librarian in a room over a bank. It was there that she learned to love books. Generations of children have grown up with Ramona Quimby, Henry Huggins, Ralph Mouse, and all of their friends, families, and assorted pets. Her books continue to capture the hearts and imaginations of children of all ages throughout the world.
