Publisher Description

Elaine Moore, a veteran teacher in Eagle Rock, Alaska, is a firm believer that the classroom is, first and foremost, a community, and that learning is best when shared in a circle of peers. When one of her students, 10-year-old Seamus Farrell, is diagnosed with terminal cancer, Elaine and her innovative teaching methods are put to the test.

Elaine's Circle is a heartfelt look at the remarkable achievement of one dedicated teacher and the children who put her lesson into practice: Learning is not just something we do in school. It is something we do until the day we die.

"This was just such a nice book. It's the true story of a teacher and her class and how they deal with a student's terminal illness. It was 220 page book that could have easily been written in 150 pages, but the people and experiences are just so inspiring that I didn't mind. Very worthwhile read."
