Publisher Description

"A very original novel. I liked it because it does not appeal to that everyday violence that I find in almost every contemporary book I read. It builds a love story with a lot of imagination, fantasy and unexpected twists. It's a novel for readers with intelligence and sensitivity. "

" Loved this book. The writing flows so beautifully--like music. Much feeling in this book. Some of the mystical stuff was really out there but it was interesting. Lot of stories intertwined. Can understand why so many Cubans in Miami love and miss Cuba of the old days. "

" I liked this novel because it reminded me of places I've been when I lived near Miami, but it wasn't anything special. I like magical realism and the description compared the book to Isabel Allende's works, but her stories are much more engaging. I didn't get "lost" in this one. "

" An amazing book that not only tells a story, but educates the reader on the history of Cuba. Engrossing and entertaining. "

" Really enjoyed this book. I loved how the author started with separate stories and brought them all together. Very well written even in translation and a great love story combined with historical fiction! "
