The Count of Monte Cristo, an audiobook dramatized in Spanish based on the original story by Alexander Dumas, is one of the most popular novels of love and revenge of all times. It is the story of Edmund Dantes, a young sailor (performed by Luis Jose Santander) who, the day that he was named capitan of the ship the Faraon and was planning to marry to his beloved Mercedes, was arrested for treason caused by a conspiracy planned by people that envied him. After many years in prison in the Chateau D'if, he met a priest, the Abbe Faria, who imparted the knowledge and showed him the way to a great treasure. After escaping from prison and already powerful with a great fortune, Dantes assumes the role of the Count of Monte Cristo to execute his revenge.

About Alexandre Dumas

Alexandre Dumas (1802–1870), French novelist and playwright, was one of the most famous and prolific French writers of the nineteenth century, producing some 250 books. He is best known for his historical novels The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo, and he was among the first authors to fully exploit the possibilities of the serial novel. He is credited with revitalizing the historical novel in France. His riveting, fast-paced adventure tales that blend history and fiction have been adapted into nearly 200 films. His last unfinished last novel, The Last Cavalier,  lost to historians for 125 years, was completed in 2005 and quickly became a best seller.
