Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction.

Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever. Download and start listening now!

" Better than Wheel of Time, but, like that series, an incredibly rich world filled with characters I have a hard time caring about. Stuffy and humorless. If I hear the word "prescient" again it will be too soon. "

" Dune ranks in my top three of favorite science fiction novels. The allure (at least for me) was the prospect of human evolution and how the one who achieved it first was a threat to some and a savior to others. The ultimate result was a Greek tragedy-because as humans we cannot be predictable and free of our own unique flaws and agendas.. Dune has a lot of depth including religious and feminist themes. Anyone who enjoys science fiction should read Dune. "

" The first book in this series is phenomenal. It makes you kind of understand Dune the movie. This book is unfilmable and I am not sure what Lynch was thinking. This book is a deep environmental novel that has political intrigue at its core. "
