Well, it's all here, in Drover's own words. Scratching his story out in the dirt on the machine shed floor, Drover comes clean about his secret life - from his early days as runt of the litter, to his frustrating search for a job, to his ultimate position as Hank's right-paw man.

"This is like listening to hilarious radio show, complete with sound effects. We've listened to it twice and both times I found it so funny I laughed out loud repeatedly while driving. It got us through a long drive through snow over Donner Pass with my parents. They got a real kick out of it too. "

" This is one of my favorite books in the Hank the Cowdog series. I really like that it is told by Drover rather than Hank, and is about his life before living on the ranch. It is really funny and a very interesting look into Drover's past. "

" It's a fun story about a cow dog who is "security" for a ranch. It's the first book in the series. My kids liked it. I had to filter some of what it said because there were a few things that they weren't old enough to understand or I didn't want them to hear yet. "

" A parent once told me that these were great for family car trips because everyone liked listening - I can confirm that as an adult, I was laughing quite a bit at these. The author reading helps get the tone just right. Quite fun. "
