" Very disappointing and simplistic. Did not carry on with Anne McCaffrey's voice at all. I rather wonder if he's even read his mother's work....? "

" He isn't nearly as good as his mother (though he is getting better) however I am glad that someone will be taking over the "franchise" when Ann passes on (hopefully not for a long time). "

" I wasn't bad - I'm glad I read it - but the ending was rather... rushed, and lots of loose ends. To be tied up in the next installment, I guess. I hope so, otherwise that would be rather irritating! "

" I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed this book. Kudos to Todd for continuing his mom's tradition. I especially liked the Igen Weyr setting. That area hasn't been mentioned much elsewhere in the various books and this filled in a lot of detail. "

" Sometimes the son of the author tries to continue a series, and the reader is disappointed. I never expected this book to be as great as his mother's work, yet it truly is! "

" I found this book to be not quite as good as the previous book, although it picked up a bit about halfway through. There were several issues which were not brought to a resolution, and I think that was appropriate. Who knows, perhaps they will allow for another book yet to come? "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Tina | 3/1/2010

" Same events as in Todd McCaffrey's previous book, but told from another perspective. The conversations seemed somewhat disjointed, and were somewhat hard to follow. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 June | 2/16/2010

" The author sticks to the format of the original Pern series. Familiarity with the series, makes this novel comfortable; no surprises but you can buy into the characters. "

" Awesome! He can really spin a tale! Reminiscent of characterization in Anne McCaffrey's Acorna series... "
