Publisher Description

The classic vampire story by Bram Stoker revolves around a struggle between good and evil, tradition and modernity, and lust versus chastity. The author didn't invent vampires, but his novel has so captured the public's imagination that he is rightly considered their popularizer. Listen and you will meet not only the Count himself, but heroes Jonathan Harker and Abraham Van Helsing, plus an array of madmen, psychiatrists, and fair maidens who cross paths with the fanged menace.

"Worthy enough to be called my favorite book ever!! The plot line is steady, the characters are golden, especially Mina; the symbolism is curious and the overall tone of the book is very gothic for its time. A must read for anyone, especially those willing to expand their "classics" section."

" This classic was wonderfully terrifying, especially in the first two thirds. The suspense, especially at the beginning, was palpable. This is the epitome of horror. Toward the last third, though, it feels very predictable in 2013. I kept thinking of the team of people trying to solve this crisis as something of a Scooby Doo band. But the story as a whole was a fascinating tale, even if the characters felt pretty one-dimensional. "

" The only reason why this got a 4 star rating is because I haven't read it cover to cover in five years. I'll have to change that. "

" Let down only by an inevitable ending that seemed to take forever, the gothic horror tale I expected was instead overshadowed by flowery poignancy on life and death. "

" I enjoyed this book more at the beginning than towards the end and I can say the same thing about Van Helsing. He was funny and charming at first but his manner of speaking becomes mildly annoying. However, it is nice to finally know the original story of Dracula. "
