Publisher Description

The rules for living in the real world have changed, because the world we live in has changed. Much of the conventional wisdom the last generation has passed on just doesn't apply like it once did. If you want to win, and win big, and, more importantly, keep what you work so hard for, you need a crystal-clear view of how the real world works - not how you wish it worked, but how it actually works.

In Life Code: The New Rules for Winning in the Real World, six-time New York Times number-one best-selling author Dr. Phil McGraw abandons traditional thinking and tells you the ugly truth about the users, abusers, and overall bad guys we all have in our lives. He also reveals the secrets of how they think and how they get to and exploit you and those you love. You'll gain incredible insight into these negative people, which he refers to as BAITERs (Backstabbers, Abusers, Imposters, Takers, Exploiters, Reckless), and you'll gain the tools to protect yourself from their assaults. Dr. Phil gives you the Evil Eight identifiers so you can see them coming from a mile away, as well as their Secret Playbook, which contains the Nefarious 15 tactics they use to exploit you and take what is yours mentally, physically, socially, and professionally. Life Code then focuses on you and your playbook, which contains the Sweet 16 tactics for winning in the real world.

Edgy, controversial and sometimes irreverent, Dr. Phil again abandons convention to prepare you to claim what you deserve and claim it now. You take flying lessons to learn to fly, swimming lessons to learn to swim, and singing lessons to learn to sing. So, why not take winning lessons to learn to win?

" Slow start, but good middle. I could've used this advice twenty years ago. Highly recommend this book for new parents and people just starting their careers. I did thoroughly enjoy his real world examples and generous dose of common sense. Dr. Phil is real talk on steroids! "

" I like Dr.Phil and catch all of his shows. This book seemed like he was describing Narcissists and terming them BAITERs. It wasn't new information to me, but it was a pretty good read. "

" Dr. Phil shares his prospective of trust in today's world. He gives you traits of untrustworthy people and the games they play. He helps you know who you really are and that builds a lot of confidence. More to come!!! "

" This book doesn't really stick to one topic. It's more of stream of consciousness. It seems like he wrote it because somebody made him angry and he threw a few other things together. The advice he gives is good, but it just seems like he's trying to sell a book by instilling more fear in people. Still, it was kind of interesting to read. "

" Dr. Phil writes glibly, subtly and not so subtly selling himself throughout this plushly padded book. So, while he makes some good points, what he says could have been covered in pamphlet form. Perhaps he's saving more material for his next book. "

" I really loved the first half of this book. He explains what makes a BAITER and their characteristics and interactions with others. The second half was about new strategies that we should all be using in this new world. I'm not too sure I'm crazy about these strategies. "

" A lot of what is in this book is common sense. Is funny, however, that the common sense is so common that it is now over looked! Perhaps there is a sixth sense to some, but if so, then this is definitely the seventh! Great book! "

" I really enjoyed this book. The first chapter or so is rather slow moving but I am so glad that I stuck with it. I think Dr. Phil makes a good point that many of the things our parents taught us about the world are just outdated. It is a good read once you get into the meat of the book. "

" I've read a couple of Dr Phil's other books, but this one is different. There is passion and briskness to this book which is a nice change from most of the self-help/self-improvement genre's Pollyanna-esque and cheerleader-ish crap. "

" A good friend gave me this book for my birthday in hopes that it would help us both deal with the BAITERs in our workplace. Overall, the book offers some good advice, but parts of it are so cornpone that people on low-carb diets should probably not read it. "

" Dr. Phil can be a good writer, but he is also very repetitive. He has good advice - I think he holds true to the belief that you have to tell people the truth seven times before they believe it. His personal anecdotes are interesting. A very easy read. "
