    " I'm impressed; very impressed. This diet was developed primarily for sick patients, especially those with diabetes, because carbohydrates turn to sugar in your blood. Most diabetics are big carb eaters. Studies have also shown, unexpected by the medical community, that cholesterol and triglycerides go DOWN when consuming fat and HDL goes up. All this talk about low-fat diets only increases cholesterol. "

About the Author
Author Robert C. Atkins

Robert C. Atkins, MD, (1930–2003) was the founder and executive medical director of the Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine in New York City. A 1951 graduate of the University of Michigan, he received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical School in 1955 and went on to specialize in cardiology. In 1972, he published his groundbreaking weight-loss book, Diet Revolution—the first major work to prescribe a low-carbohydrate diet. It was followed in 1992 by the revised and updated Dr. Atkins’ New Diet Revolution, which spent more than three years on the New York Times bestseller list. Atkins was also the author of several books that promote nutritional medicine, including Dr. Atkins’ Quick & Easy New Diet Cookbook, Dr. Atkins’ Vita-Nutrient Solution: Nature’s Answer to Drugs, Dr. Atkins’ Age-Defying Diet Revolution, and Atkins for Life. He appeared on or was featured on Oprah, 20/20, Larry King Live, CBS Evening News, Sally Jessy Raphael, Dateline NBC, Today, Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, The View, and ABC World News, among others.

About the Narrator

Jeffrey DeMunn is an American film, television, and stage actor. He graduated from Union College in 1969 and then spent two years at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre school in England. He is best known for his roles in several Frank Darabont films, including The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Majestic. His is also featured in numerous television roles, most recently in the adaptation of The Walking Dead comic book series. In addition to his film and television performances, DeMunn has lent his voice to several audio books, including The Colorado Kid, Dreamcatcher, and Letters for Emily
