Julie laughed when 12-year-old Luke asked her to marry him. But when he appeared on her doorstep two years later with flowers and a winning smile, something inside her melted, and they d been going together ever since.

Luke was working hard for a football scholarship, and Julie was applying only to colleges that were interested in him. Neither of them could imagine life without the other. And neither of them was prepared for the awful day that Luke was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Suddenly, their world was turned upside down, and Julie had to believe that love could conquer anything.

Acclaimed by parents, teachers, and reviewers, Lurlene McDaniel's work was recently included in a literary time capsule at the Library of Congress. Addressing the fears of young people faced with life-altering situations, her message is one of inspiration and hope, and Alyssa Bresnahan's warm narration relays it perfectly.

" I loved this book! It was the first book I read in a while that I could honestly not put down. The love story in it was so cute it gave me butterflies. I like how it was written because it was through the eyes of a high-schooler so I could relate to the things that the characters were going through. I thought that the book was kind of predictable, but I was always excited when my predictions were right because it was what I wanted to happen next. I got so into this book the ending made me cry! "
