Abby has just arrived in Summerville, Ohio, with her placid Newfoundland, Bowser. She's reluctantly inherited her grandmother's coffee shop, but it's not long before she's brewing up trouble in the form of magical baked goods and steaming up her life with an exasperating college professor.

And then there's Daisy, a Web code writer, and her hyperactive Jack Russell, Bailey. Her tightly wound world spins out of control when she discovers the chaos within and meets a mysterious dog trainer whose teaching style is definitely hands-on.

Finally there's Shar, professor of ancient history at Summerville College, who wakes up one morning to find her neurotic dachshund, Wolfie, snarling at an implacable god sitting at her kitchen table, the first thing in her life she hasn't been able to footnote.

What on earth is going on in this unearthly little town? It's up to Abby, Daisy, and Shar to find out before an ancient goddess takes over southern Ohio, and they all end up in the apocalyptic doghouse... Download and start listening now!

" Not the worst. It has an ok sense of humor. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Hope Corizzo | 1/22/2014

" Jennifer Crusie is always good, but here, she's held back by two other authors that don't mean much to me. Fun beach read, but forgettable. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Erin Stuhlsatz | 12/31/2013

" Because it's Jennifer Crusie, we have a cute romance. The story revolves around 3 women: Abby, who just inherited a bakery from her grandmother, Daisy, who just inherited a hyperactive dog from her mother who suddenly became 'allergic', and Shar, a history professor who is bored with her fiance and life in general. They meet at a dog obedience class and quickly become friends while at the same time realizing the obedience class is MUCH more than it seems. It turns out, an ancient Mesopotamian Goddess has been accidentally resurrected and wants to take over the world. The women all fall in love, find purpose in their lives, and discover they're actually goddesses. The story was fun, if fluffy, and the characters were definitely likeable, even though they made stupid decisions on occasion. The ending was happy :-) "

" Ummm . . .yeah. This book is really quite bizarre. I love Jennifer Crusie and was really looking forward to this, but it's just weird. And I don't really think it was good in the "What a fun and quirky book" sort of way, but more in the "WTF" sort of way. It really is about dogs and goddesses--three women who discover they are goddesses and can talk to dogs. I'm not sure if it's a result of the three different authors (especially since I don't know the process they used to write this) but there seemed to be too many characters. The dogs, though, were very endearing. "
