The dodos are leading idyllic lives on an island in the Indian Ocean. The date was AD 1650 and soon there would be no dodos anywhere at all on earth. Beatrice and Bertie are happily planning their wedding bliss and thinking of all the dodolings they would produce, unaware of the dangers lurking offshore in the anchored ship. Dick King-Smith was the pen name of Ronald Gordon King-Smith (1922–2011). He was a prolific English writer of children’s books, best known for The Sheep Pig, or Babe: The Gallant Pig, as it was know in the United States, which won the 1984 Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize and was adapted as the movie Babe. He was awarded an Honorary Master of Education by the University of the West of England in 1999 and appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2010.
Nigel Lambert has appeared in Doctor Who, Bergerac, and Heartbeat. A frequent narrator for audiobooks and television, he provided the narration for Look Around You, a parody of educational science programs.
