Caroline John reads this gripping novelization of a classic Doctor Who adventure.

In this, the first adventure of his third incarnation, Doctor Who, Liz Shaw, and the Brigadier grapple with the nightmarish invasion of the Autons.

Living, giant-sized, plastic-modeled “humans” with no hair and sightless eyes, they are waxwork replicas and tailors’ dummies whose murderous behavior is directed by the Nestene Consciousness—a malignant, squid-like monster of cosmic proportions and indescribably hideous appearance.

Caroline John, who played Liz Shaw in the original Doctor Who TV serial Spearhead from Space, reads Terrance Dicks’ complete and unabridged novelization, first published by Target Books in 1974.

" The first of the Target range, from 1974, and the first of over sixty novelisations from Terrance Dicks. Well-written and largely faithful to the TV story, with a few background details added to flesh-out the story. Very enjoyable. "

" The novelizations are every bit as delightful as the series. I couldn't find this on DVD, so I picked up the book, and it was just like watching the show. But with better effects. :) "

" I have a fondness for the Doctor Who regeneration episodes, and when they are chock full of action and suspense, all the more. Even though there's never a doubt of The Doctor's ultimate success, the roundabout way of getting there is lots of fun. "
