Publisher Description

“An eerie and gripping tale of suspense….A triumph.”

Boston Globe

The author of the New York Times bestseller Island of Lost Girls, Jennifer McMahon returns with Dismantled—a stunning and chilling thriller that further burnishes her reputation as, “One of the brightest new stars of literary suspense” (Los Angeles Times online). Stewart O’Nan, author of Songs for the Missing, calls Dismantled, “A fun, twisty thriller. Expect comparisons to The Secret History.” Readers of Laura Lippman, Tana French, and Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones will not be able to shake this breathtaking tale of the dark consequences of a group of college friends’ belief that all things—and people—must be taken apart to be truly understood.

"Another excellent mystery/thriller. It took a little while for me to get into it since a lot of information was purposefully held back in order to make it more mysterious. I just wanted to know what had happened in the past so I could move on and enjoy the present story. But the wait was worthwhile. I was constantly trying to figure out what was going on and every time I thought I had it, a twist was thrown in that completely confused me. Throughout the book you never really know if everyone is crazy, if there is a haunting or possession occurring, or if there really are just real live human beings messing with the main characters. Eventually I just came to the conclusion that it must be all three because I was completely stumped. I absolutely love when I can't guess the ending to the story within the first few pages. This is beautifully written and very complex story that I would recommend to fans on the genre."

" I didn't think I would like this book at first, but it grew on me. Some of it was a bit far fetched.....I felt so bad for the little girl in the story.....she seemed so lost. The adults were interesting to see how the effect guilt has on people and how it wears away at their psyche and how they don't get peace until they face their past. "

" I think this book probably could have been written in a hundred fewer pages. While I didn't really even like any of the characters (except the child), I found myself almost needing to find out what happened to them. This was a fairly strange book, and I'm not sure that I'd really recommend it, but once I got started, I definitely had to finish it. "
