Publisher Description

New York Times bestselling author Lisa Scottoline delivers a riveting page-turner about sex and murder, which starts in the elite chambers of a sexy female judge and ends on the cold, gritty streets of Philadelphia.

Cate Fante is strong and smart, but when she gets appointed a federal judge, even she wonders if she can do the job justice. She's in her thirties, and she feels like she's joining the world's most exclusive retirement village. But Cate keeps her doubts a secret. And, as it happens, much else. For she leads a dark, double life that she hides from everyone.

Then a high-profile case in her courtroom explodes into a shocking murder-suicide, and it blasts her cover wide open. Overnight, her new career hangs in tatters. But Cate's troubles are only beginning. An enemy no one anticipated sends her running for her life -- embarking on a journey that begins in the mystery of her own childhood. She'll have to fight her way back to the truth, or die trying.

Dirty Blonde is Lisa Scottoline's most suspenseful and gripping thriller to date. Mixing poignancy with her trademark wit and wonderfully compelling characters, it questions whether law and justice are always the same thing.

"My mother had given me this book to read and she really liked it. I found the main character of Cate Fante likable and I enjoyed the suspense and twists and turns in the story. I especially found interesting the part on Centralia, PA. A town (or former town) that I had never heard of before."

" Struggle to begin with as set in a court, dont usually like that sort of thing, find it a bit boring, but once got away from that is was ok, did'nt know judges had such exciting lives "

" This book didn't quite know if it wanted to be a courtroom thriller or a detective story, so it ended up as a weird conglomeration of both. It also tried to add a "personal discovery" element to it that wasn't needed. The story was fairly predictable, too, so don't go into it looking for an innovative twist on the genre. Having said that, it kept me entertained during a lengthy car ride. It also introduced me to Lisa Scottoline, an author I think I'd like to read more of now that I know her style. "

" I've liked all the books written by Lisa Scottoline -- all have realistic characters, but sometimes the situations border on the not-quite-possible. That's ok with me since I read to be entertained. This one did the trick for me. "

" I think Lisa Scottoline is an excellent writer, but this book just didn't cut it. Why? Because I could never believe the central character. Federal judge by day; whore/slut by night. C'mon, might as well made her a vampire. At least that way Scottoline would have a ready made audience. "
