Publisher Description

In the sweltering heat of New Orleans, former Special Forces soldier-turned-bodyguard Charlie Fox faces her toughest challenge yet. Her lover, bodyguard Sean Meyer, has woken from a gunshot-induced coma with his memory in tatters. Working with Sean again was never going to be easy for Charlie, but a celebrity fundraising event in aid of still-ravaged areas of New Orleans should have been the ideal opportunity for them both to take things nice and slow. Until, that is, they find themselves thrust into the middle of a war zone.

Somebody has a major score to settle, and Sean is part of the reason. Only trouble is, he doesn't remember why. One thing is for certain, though - Charlie is never going to die easy.

"Given a major event affecting Charlie's life in the previous book, I was sure that I would hate this one. Not so. Sharp figured out a great twist that kept this volume from turning into a soap opera. In fact, this may be the best book of hers I have read. I was very close to hitting that fifth star. Sharp has left herself with another decision to make at the end of this book. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she will make the decision I want her to make. Oh--kudos to Sharp for reminding us that we have never kept faith with New Orleans. The need is still great."

" Loved this next chapter for Charlie fox. I think I read it within 12 hours!! It was very interesting to see Charlie and Sean's relationship especially after his injury. It was a necessary step to see the confusion and anger from Sean coupled with the disappointment and emotional struggle from Charlie. Add this to an action packed plot line and it's a roller coaster of a read. Can't wait to see what Zoe has in store for Charlie and Sean in the next instalment! "

" Charlie and Sean are on their first case since Sean's release from the hospital. They are faced with a number of challenges, both in protecting their principle and in trying to get reacquainted with each other. They find themselves on a riverboat near New Orleans in a hostage situation. The action is great, the relationships are complicated and the story flows quickly. "

" I love the Charlie Fox series because Charlie is like the female Jack Reacher with one exception - age. Charlie is still in her twenties which means that the readers are repeatedly bashed over the head with tired dialogue about her boyfriend Sean. If Sharp would have just cut the cord in this book it would have been perfect. Even so, there was lots of action and plenty of viable suspects for an excellent who-done-it. "

" Charlie Fox is new to me even though this is the 10th novel featuring her. Ms. Sharp gives you enough background where you aren't lost but it does leave this reader wanting to know more. "

" I like this series, but I'm getting a little tired of the cliff-hanger endings, and the fact that NOTHING ever seems to go right for Charlie. As much as she's gone through, it's amazing how she's still walking around, instead of lying curled up in the closet somewhere. "

" I went in knowing I was reading a series and not starting at the beginning. But, while I felt I was missing things it didn't annoy me as much as it usually does. I am going to go back and start with the first book. Yay! Got a new series and it has lots of books in it! "
