Publisher Description

Teresa, Dowager Marchioness of Darent, is rumored to have exhausted her four deceased husbands with her insatiable needs. So it's no surprise that every rake in the ton wants to bed her. If they only knew... through clever marriages to men who would ask nothing of her physical self, Tessa has remained rather innocent in the ways of the bedroom. But now she's on the verge of losing everything and wants to take care of the stepson she's grown to adore.

Enter Captain Owen Purchase. The handsome American adventurer has come into the title of Viscount Rothbury. And the rumors surrounding his injuries at sea suggest that he could fit Tessa's requirements. But little does Tessa realize that the gossipmongers are wrong. She just might lose her heart, and her desires, to the most unlikely of men....

"Great book- and a reminder of why I started reading Nicola Cornick's books! The stories and characters are interesting and unique. This one was no exception. I loved Tess's character, and I think she was well-matched with Owen."

" It was just OK. Not sure that I'd bother reading this author again as the book seemed predictable for a mystery and a bit ho-hum at times. "

" I enjoyed the fact that Tess was politically active and Owen was an American. Nothing unique about the plot, but I enjoyed it. A lame review, I know but it was charming in its own way. "

" Loved the protags Tess and Owen -- fully emotionally developed, strong characters both. But the side plots and characters were pretty flimsy and required a lot of suspension of disbelief to get through. Luckily the love story carried the novel, but I would have liked to see the rest of it better written. "

" OK book; liked 2nd and 3rd in series better. Tess is unusual and her back story is a nice change from the usual. Again there was a relationship before anything else. Book just didn't have that extra something and I really wanted a good story for Owen. "

" I wanted to like this more that I did. The characters just never seemed to come alive. The author tells a good story, but I guess this one just wasn't a home run for me. "
