Publisher Description

Twenty years ago Madeline Barker's father disappeared. Despite what everyone else thinks, Madeline's convinced her stepfamily had nothing to do with it. But the recent discovery of his car finally proves he didn't just drive away. Worse, the police find something in the trunk that says there's more to this case than murder.

With no other recourse, Madeline decides to hire a private investigator - even if the cops don't like it. Even if her family doesn't like it. But when P.I. Hunter Solozano begins to uncover some shocking evidence, someone in Stillwater is determined to put a stop to Madeline's search for the truth.

And that means putting a stop to her. Permanently.

"I love these books. The first and second were my favorites. I have to admit that this was my least favorite of them all. I really don't like Madeline. She comes across as an idiot that is totally in denial. I was happy with the ending and the book overall but I wish Novak would have made her more like able. I did like the character Hunter a lot."

" This was a really good book but the subject matter was really difficult to deal with. I kept reading because I needed to know what happened and that the bad guy got his just reward. "

" I wasn't into this book as much as her other ones. I think my problem is that I read the last one in the series, I should have read the one and two, first. Oops! "

" This was THE perfect ending to this trilogy. It was beautiful how it neatly wrapped up everything but not in a super obvious way. I will say this now, this was hands-down the best series I've read in a long long time! "

" Like the first 2, Dead Silence and Dead Giveaway, I couldn't put this book down. Ms. Novak is a brilliant, refreshing writer. I highly recommend this series to anyone that likes this genre. This book has edge of your seat suspense and romance. "
