"Expertly done. It adds to the book's allure if youve seen the Deadliest Catch TV show because the mystery is occasioned by murders on an boat similar to what is on the show. As usual there are quick but pain free lessons on Aleut life, history and traditions."

" This is the first book of the Kate Shugak series that I have read. I enjoyed it very much as I was on a 10 day land tour of Alaska at the time. I plan to read the whole series once I get back home in lower 48 "

" Borrowed this from Lendle.com. Third one in the series. I've read some later ones but thought I might read them from the beginning. The Kate Shugak mystery books are interesting regarding life in Alaska. Kate Shugak, an Alaskan Aleut Indian is a former investigator for the Anchorage DA. She now lives on a homestead in a national Park in Alaska. She ends up reluctantly working on and getting involved in murder mysteries that happen around her area. She has a half-wolf, half-husky dog named Mutt. It's not really a witty or feel good series. Kind of on the more serious side. You will learn about dog mushers, miners, hunters, trappers, fishermen, bush pilots, pipeline workers, Park rats and Park rangers, and the customs and traditions of the Aleut Indians. "

" Too hard to follow - it assumed you knew the characters from previous books and felt like it started in the middle of the story. The plot was OK, but not gripping. "

" This is the third in the Kate Shugak series. I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two. Kate goes undercover on a crabbing boat in the Bering Sea and I missed the recurring characters from the Park. Maybe I just need a break, but it was a little too Deadliest Catch for me. "
