Publisher Description

A new day dawns blood red....

A master of fire, Mira is the last hope for the world. For centuries she has secretly enforced the history-altering edicts of the Triad. Now she and her unlikely ally - the human vampire hunter, Danaus - have come to Venice, home of the nightwalker rulers. But there is no safety in the ancient city, for the threat of conflict is in the wind... with unholy alliances and earth-shattering betrayals taking hideous form in the shadows.

Banished for eons beyond the world's boundaries, the malevolent naturi prepare to feed once again upon a vulnerable earth - and treachery is opening wide the portal that will enable their dread re-emergence. The great battle that has always been Mira's destiny is looming, and she must remain powerful in the face of a shocking revelation: that Danaus, the only creature she dares to trust, is something more than the man he claims to be....

"Geesh, does this author know her geography! That or she is completely making everything up as she goes. This installment traveled the world as Mira fights the Naturi and tries to figure out the chess game the Coven is making of her life. Mira takes on many new respondsibilities and does things she never thought she would do. Danaus and her continue their unusual relationship. Rowe hunts her, and she hunts Rowe. Enemies alter by the chapter, sometimes by the paragraph. I really would rate this book somewhere around a 4.5. At some point near the middle I had to put it down for a bit (overnight) cause the politics were starting to get too thick. I don't care much for politically heavy books. It picked back up tho and I finished the book willingly. Heading to the next!"

" Liked the continuation but didn't love it like the first book. The main character is consistent and usually that is all I look to in a series but I want to know more about the others as well. I really am liking the development of the other characters but it is SLOW. In turn there are a few characters that I could do without but since this is a series they may come into play later. I guess I expected a little more resolution but that being said I have the 3rd one ready to go and am eager to start on it. "

" The series has a strong flow and definite goal in mind, but still retains the perfect mix of intrigue and mystery to keep you coming back. Danaus and Mira are the perfect love/hate relationship. Still bantering and determined to kill one another if they ever get out of world threatening danger. "

" The story holds quit a few twists and turns and even some surprises. It is number 2 in a series that leaves you waiting for the next book. For some reason the characters just don't draw me in. I will keep reading the series because each book has ended on a cliff hanger leaving me wanting for more. "

" With the second book of this Nightwalker series read, i think i've had enough. While the story is ok, the storytelling and the constant flawless male parade is not. Or shall i say, overdone. It could also be that i had high expectations after The Hollows by Kim Harrison. "

About Jocelynn Drake

Jocelynn Drake constantly has stories rattling around in her brain—dark tales of failure and triumph with a price, tales of love, and tales of monsters that hide in the shadows searching for the light—so with this need to tell stories, she pursued a degree in literature and journalism at Northern Kentucky University. Unfortunately, finding a job writing about the creepy things that filled her brain wasn’t all that easy, so in an effort to keep food in her stomach and a roof over her head, she fell back on her other interest: Wall Street. For more than ten years, Jocelynn was a stock market analyst and financial writer for an investment research firm in Cincinnati, Ohio. While an unexpected combination, it easily fits her personality, giving a nice sense of balance. Now the author of the Dark Days series, she lives in Kentucky.
