Married off at a tender age to a harsh, older widower, Lydia Gray can't help but feel a measure of relief when an accident claims his life.

What happens next, however, is a surprise to everyone: through an unforeseen fluke, Lydia finds herself the sole recipient of her late husband's fortune. But instead of granting her security, strife ensues as her adult stepchildren battle to regain the inheritance for themselves. Lydia longs to wash her hands of the situation and determines to join her aunt in Alaska, putting financial decisions in the capable hands of her lawyer.

The beauty and serenity of life in Sitka appeal to Lydia, as does Kjell Lindquist, the handsome owner of the local sawmill. But a new discovery in Lydia's life forces her to rethink her future. She is bound to her past as never before but what more must she sacrifice? Download and start listening now!

" I liked this book. I thought that the story had a good message, and that it was entertaining. I loved how Kjell stood by Lydia and helped her thorough her pain and sorrow. There were things that I did not like about it, but I will leave that for you to decide. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Bethany | 1/21/2014

" Pretty good. Not as romanc-y(for lack of a word) as I thought it would be. A little cheesy of course, but in a good way. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Elizabeth | 1/18/2014

" It was ok, but the genre of Christian "inspirational" fiction is tiring and repetitive. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Emmeline Bosquet | 1/13/2014

" i thought this book was sweet and had a fascinating plot, although slow at times, it was a good read! "

" #1 in yet another alaska series. :) This had a lot of potential. The ending leaves a lot to be desired, as it maybe should, given this is the first of 3 books. Lots of potential but I'm not sure it lived up to it. Quick, easy read. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Leslie | 12/13/2013

" Really liked this book for the most part. I struggled with the ending, however, simply because of the way it seemed to wrap up so quickly. I'm guessing that was to set us up for the next book? "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Stacey | 12/4/2013

" Really good series. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Kind of slow at first, but I loved the suspense and the drama it brought. I will end up reading the other two in this trilogy at a later date. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Tausha | 11/29/2013

" This one was an okay read for me. I felt it was kind of depressing, but ends happy. Lots of drama for poor Lydia, but glad she found peace and Kjell. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Christina Darnell | 9/27/2012

" I usually like Tracie Peterson, but this book was hard to read. The characters were dull, the plotline didn't grip my interest, and I had to try hard to imagine the scenes in my mind. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Julie B | 5/27/2012

" I love how Tracie Peterson doesn't chose simple story lines, she finds hard and gritty topics. This one is no different and in parts its hard to believe vengeance is so important. I love this book and cant wait to start book 2 in the series. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jessica | 5/14/2012

" I really liked this entire series. Tracie Peterson is a wonderful author and she's not afraid to dig into deeper topics, which some Christian authors stick with a lot of fluff. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Lillie | 11/26/2011

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Sandy Sandmeyer | 9/6/2011

" Much better than previous Peterson books I've read. It's the story of a young woman, who travels to Alaska to live with her aunt, after her husband and father are killed. There's mystery and intrigue as she continues to fight her greedy step-children and love when she meets a loving, Christian man. "

" I really enjoyed this book. I always like Tracie Peterson's books because I do like the fact that they are based on Christian morals and I did not feel that it was "preachy" at all. I liked the setting, story and the characters. A very good book in my opinion. "
