His career as a naturalist and broadcaster has spanned nearly five decades and there are very few places on the globe that he has not visited. In this volume of memoirs David tells stories of the people and animals he has met and the places that he has visited.

Over the last 25 years he has established himself as the world's leading Natural History programme maker with several landmark BBC series, most recently the hugely popular Life and Blue Planet, alongside Life on Earth, The Living Planet, The Trials of Life, The Private Life of Plants, and Life of Birds.

This is an updated autobiography of David Attenborough's life, read by David Attenborough himself.

" For anyone who has not seen David Attenborough's many natural history programs, I don't know whether I would recommend renting the videos or reading this book first. This memoir, like the programs, is full of astonishing information about the natural world, and it has the added bonus of the behind the scenes insight, creativity, endurance and tenacity that Attenborough has devoted his life to enacting. Attenborough's writing style is just as endearing as his narration style in the programs, with many tales punctuated by his dry humor. I don't very often laugh aloud while reading, but this book has the perfect balance of amazing and extremely funny. I have had a great passion for the Trials of Life series for years and at this point I know most of the 12 videos by heart. And now I want to watch it all, plus the Life of Plants and Life of Birds series and read the book again. "

" My greatest hero. While sir Attenborough will probably not be remembered for his literary prowess, an interesting read. This book is a reminder of how much times have changed. The story of Komodo and its dragons really stuck to me and I'm often reminded of it when people discuss their holiday plans. "

" Hard to imagine this book could be more entertaining. Essentially a series of anecdotes, memories and trivia, it reads easily and is always fun, interesting and thought provoking. Expect lots about animal life but very little about Attenborough & co. A great read. "
