Publisher Description

If someone called you a googlewhack, what would you do? Would you end up playing table tennis with a nine year-old boy in Boston? Would you find yourself in Los Angeles wrangling snakes, or would you go to China to be licked by a performance artist? If your name is Dave Gorman, then all of these things could be true. Fuelled by a lust for life and a desperate desire to do anything except what he's supposed to be doing (writing that novel and growing up), Dave falls under the spell of an obscure Internet word game, Googlewhacking. Addicted to the game, and gripped by obsession, Dave travels three times round the world, visiting four continents and the unlikeliest cast of real life eccentrics you'll ever meet in what becomes an epic challenge, a life-changing, globe-trotting Googlewhack adventure.

"Absolutely FANTASTIC! I watched the DVD before reading the book and I was still gripped to it. Everyone needs to experience this! I would recommend watching it before reading it just to get a clear idea of what it's all about before you read the extra details added to the book. It's such a shame not enough people have seen this! MUST MUST MUST WATCH/READ!"

" Loved it, and was very glad to learn that the types of activities my mother refers to as 'procrastinating' can sometimes turn into published books and world-wide tours. "

" This book definitely had its moments, but unfortunately Dave Gorman was not as successful a Danny Wallace substitute as I had hoped when I got the book. The silliness was there (including some laugh out loud moments), but the substance behind it was missing. In this case, Dave Gorman went to crazy lengths to win a bet, but ultimately came away from it the same person he was when he started. Still an enjoyable book, but it suffered by comparison with Join Me, Yes Man, and Friends Like These. "

" This book started out with an interesting premise/game, but halway through the story really went downhill and lost credibility entirely. (It's supposed to be a true story...) "

" A great 'holiday' read. Gorman takes you on a bizarre and fascinating journey around the world thanks to a strange bet, Google and bizarre quirks of fate. (The DVD of this is also really entertaining). "

" Yet another comedian gets paid to write a stupid book about a stupid subject. I found most of the text filler complaining how he wasn't going to do the task or how hard it was going to be. Publishers really need to fund something a bit more worthwhile than this rubbish. "
