Publisher Description

The American guy is not to be confused with a husband, father, hunk, or intellectual, says guy expert Dave Barry. Published just in time (the American guy faces extinction due to feminism, the men's movement, and stricter sanitation laws), this guide gives women helpful advice for understanding Him (or It) and offers men useful tips on remembering the names of their children and other dilemmas of life. As to the truth of his conclusions, Dave says, Every statement of fact you will read in this book is either based on actual laboratory tests, or else I made it up. But you can trust me. I'm a guy.

"I remember reading this book years ago. I was in a restaurant, by myself, reading the first few chapters. I was laughing so hard (outloud - wheezing, gasping, tears running down my face) at the "guy quiz" questions several people asked what I was reading. Hope they bought the book too."

" I've been reading Dave Barry since middle school, and in the last 20 years, his formula doesn't seem to have changed a whole lot. All of his books are entertaining diversions, though pretty much empty calories when all is said and done. This one is a sort of tribute to being a guy, which in Barry's mind is a dorky yet endearing quality that embraces many of the familiar cliches of what it is to be male. If you've read his humor columns, the style here is very similar. A light read that may cause occasional laughing out loud, but not something that is likely to stay with you long after you've finished. I'm not sure what kind of appeal this book would have to the non-guy gender, but I'm guessing not a lot. "

" Stop whatever you're doing and go get this book. I passed it around on a group of 50 trip to London and Paris. The readers were LITERALLY rolling in the aisles of the plane! They had stewardesses laughing as they read. Heck of a lot of fun and TOO true! "

" Amazing book, loved it. It was hilarious and most of the time, completely true. Since I listened to it, it was more like a comedy bit. I don't think I could listen to the whole thing again for a long while, though I would gladly re-listen to certain parts over and over again. "
