How does Daniel survive one of history's worst nightmares? Since the Nazis came to power in 1933, this extended Jewish family has been relentlessly persecuted and finally forced from their home in Frankfurt, Germany to the Jewish ghetto in Poland and on to the death camps.

" This book wasn't entirely impressive, but it wasn't bad. The reason its a two star book and not a three star book is because when I read it, I didn't feel anything but disgust. From Holocaust books, I expect more emotion. Other than that, it was a well-written book that wasn't bad. "

" I thought this was a clear, well told story about life during the Holocaust from the perspective of a young teenaged Jewish boy. Sobering, sad but still with a thread of hope throughout. "
