"Love in my world usually ended up with someone hearing 'I smite thee!' as she was cursed to be some lame flower for the rest of her life." For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals-pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards . . . and that she'll never be prepared for that duty. According to her mother, that's a good thing. But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return-the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death . . . because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill. The daimons have found her. Quotes & Awards

  • Justine Eyre did a phenomenal job narrating this book! I questioned whether or not she could pull off voicing a teenager, but I was wrong. She's able to put the perfect voices to everyone, from the most vein teenager to the upper-crust members of the Covenant. Her voice is so versatile! Night Grils Don't Read Naughty Books

" I liked this novella, but I thought it was weird that Alex got in so many non-paranormal fights. While I'm glad she's kick-ass and can defend herself, I felt the non-daimon fights kind of made her paranoidably over-the-top. I did like that I got a glimpse of the background story, and it was endearing to read about her mother before the attack, especially since she called her Lexie. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Naru | 2/7/2014

" Despite having many elements of this story being very similar to that of the Vampire Academy series (half bloods protecting pures; being in love with the unattainable guy; being out of the school she's supposed to be in for whatever reasons etc), this prequel caught my attention enough to want to see where this goes. I would definitely consider looking at Half-Blood before I make up my mind as to whether this is a series I would continue to read. "

" I raced through this fast because it is a nice & short novella. It definitely got me hooked and left me wanting more. Alex is an awesome character, she is very BA & hilarious too (my favorite kind of female character)! I related to her pretty quickly. The world building was fast, but got my attention, I can't wait to learn more. There were some crazy things that happened, it was almost non-stop but totally awesome! Also can't wait to learn more about Aiden, he sounds awesome & hot :) I am eagerly awaiting Half-Blood & I definitely recommend reading Daimon. "

" This is a pretty good start to the series. I know it's only a prequel book, and usually you have a choice of either reading it before the actually book one of the series or not, but really, you HAVE to read it in order to fully understand the books. Book one starts off exactly where this book ends. Yes, it has a cliffhanger. But reading this makes you seriously want to grab book one right away and continue reading. You get hooked with the story in an instant, as well as warm up to Alex. In fact, after this review, I'm going straight to reading book one. "

" Alex got away from the two daimons that she saw and that one of them was killed and she had to run away from her dead mother for all she knows. At least the daimons let her go and hide because if they didn't she would have been long gone by now and there would not be any series. Thanks goodness for that. "

" A very interesting sneak peak into a new and exciting world. Alex is in lots of trouble and I'm looking forward to see how she gets out of it. "

" A great prequel to what looks to be a promising series. Very interesting idea and well written. Jennifer L. Armentrout shows just how much potential both her series and herself as a writer have in the future. I can't wait for the first novel, Half-Blood, to be released. A definite must-read! "

" An interesting prequel! I really can't wait to read Half-Blood! :) I really like to know more about daimons and the covenant. I think Alexandria would be a fascinating protagonist in this series. Looking forward to what the Covenant series entails. :) "
