"What a wonderful play! Poor, ugly Cyrano, in love with the beautiful Roxanne, pens love letters for the handsome er, what was his name? It doesn't really matter, because he (whazizname) is only a vehicle to ultimately deliver Roxanne into the arms of Cyrano. Too bad it has to be at Cyrano's deathbed. I originally read this play in French, but later read it in English. Either way, it is one of the great love stories of all time, still deserving of its many rave reviews,"

About Edmond Rostand

Edmond Eugène Alexis Rostand (1868–1918) was a French poet and dramatist. He is associated with neo-romanticism, and is best known for his play Cyrano de Bergerac. Rostand’s romantic plays contrasted with the naturalistic theater popular during the late nineteenth century. Another of Rostand’s works, Les Romanesques, was adapted to the musical comedy, The Fantasticks.
