In Boston, a young woman finds herself pregnant--even though she is still a virgin.

In Ireland, another young woman discovers she is in the same impossible condition.

And in cities all around the world, medical authorities are overwhelmed by epidemics, droughts, famines, floods, and worse. It all feels like a sign that something awful is coming.

Anne Fitzgerald, a former nun turned private investigator, is hired by the Archdiocese of Boston to investigate the immaculate conceptions. Even as she comes to care about and trust the young women, she realizes that both are in great danger. Terrifying forces of light and darkness are gathering. Stepping into uncharted territory where the unknown is just the beginning, Anne must discover the truth--to save the young women, to save herself, and to protect the future of all mankind.

" This is probably my favority James Patterson book so far. An excellent story! His books are always a good, easy read. I highly recommend this one, unless you are easily offended by religious matters... :-) "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Meita Supardi | 2/8/2014

" Not a typical James Patterson's novel, but quite interesting. At first, looks like a sci-fi novel, and it doesn't have a satisfying ending. "

" This is my favorite! "

" This book was unlike any other James Patterson book that I have ever read. Rather than searching for killers, this book introduced two very young pregnant virgins, one in America and one in Ireland. We spend the book trying to figure out how that can be and which girl is carrying the savior of the masses and which girl is carrying the spawn of Satan. I liked this book really well. It kept my interest clear through to the end. I would like to see a follow-up book, picking up where this one left off. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Lorraine | 1/23/2014

" Loved this book but it was a bit scary and I wasn't too sure about the ending. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Greer Andjanetta | 1/21/2014

" A religious fantasy story of virgin births, the second coming, a child of satan, supernatural events and mysterious deaths. A choppy, hard to read story with a large number of very short chapters (1 - 2 pages) with lots of blank partial pages to pad out the size of the book. In summary, a frustrating read. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Michelle Cordero | 1/19/2014

" Soooooo much better than the original version from 1980. "

" This book was kind of frightening,in an "Exorcist" kind of way!It had virgin pregnancies, demons, exorcisms,Catholicism, the works.I actually had a nightmare last night after reading part of it!It was much different than the Patterson books I am accustomed to. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Bandit | 12/28/2013

" Brilliant old time Patterson. I would recommend it to all. I "read" it on audible and that was awesome. So if you can get tha audible version, go for it. It is worth it. WaAr "

" Style was great, but I didn't buy Patterson writing with the religious view. I think he's better at facts (even fictitious ones!)than mysticism. "

Somehow I still think that being pregnant while one is still a virgin isn't that shocking anymore, so it baffles me somewhat.
