Much of the city can't wake up. And more are dozing off each day. Instead of powerful forces storming Seattle, a more insidious invasion is happening. Most of Joanne Walker's fellow cops are down with the blue flu, or rather the blue sleep. Yet there's no physical cause anyone can point to, and it keeps spreading.
It has to be magical, Joanne figures. But what's up with the crazy dreams that hit her every time she closes her eyes? Are they being sent by Coyote, her still-missing spirit guide? The messages just aren't clear.
Somehow Joanne has to wake up her sleeping friends while protecting those still awake, figure out her inner-spirit dream life and, yeah, come to terms with those other dreams she's having about her boss. Wouldn't it be easier to just save the world?

"I loved this book. *laughs* Even though I had a fit at the end and threw it because it didn't end the way I wanted it too. It's good to have an author who doesn't conform to your expectations while still putting out a book that you'll want to read again despite the fact that damn it - it doesn't end the way you want it to. :D" — K.B. " Waiting for the fourth.....it's entertaining and the romantic subplot is worth reading. "
" I finally admit defeat. I don't like Joanne Walker and I don't like the constant whining and stumbling about like a ninny. I gave this series a fair shot I think, three books should be enough to define your character and world right? I find that I just don't like this world that much and the characters are insipid. The magic description sequences feel abrupt and incomplete. I give up on this series. "
" Continued brain candy "
" Parts were excellent, but much was really, really, REALLY slow. The whold "I can do all this, but I don't really believe it" also got terribly old. Joanne just isn't real smart, and a bit hard to respect because of it. "
" this book was better paced and had a great story im so glad she finally is getting the hang of her powers and her crush on morrison "
" Her forays into the dreamworld/trance-states/nether are so topsy-turvy. So much time was spent there this book and I was a little bored by the end. I never felt a sense of urgency there like you do when she's in the "real world". I like the focus on her interpersonal relationships a lot more. "
" Good read. Not best of the series, but don't miss it. "
" Yup, crack. "
" I stopped reading this series with this one (I got the first three all in one setting) and have no intention of continuing. They're not bad books, they're just lacking something, energy or dynamism maybe, that leaves you wanting more or looking forward to any other books. "
" Second time I've read this book. Forgot how much I enjoyed the Walker series, glad she started it up again. "
" One of the best I've read. "
" Love this series, made me laugh alot! "
" Good story, further background on our heroine and a further education of her skills and history which she experiences through dreams and by exposure to other spirits. Still a very interesting and unique character; one which still has my curiosity peeked. "
" Ditto my review on Thunderbird Falls. Just look that up and you'll have the contents of this one too. "
" This was a little more confusing than the last two. Still - good. Can't wait to get the next one! "
" Another quick but satisfying read in The Walker Papers series. Not many authors surprise me these days, but Murphy didn't go for the easy ending ... she went for the right one. I enjoyed it thoroughly. "
" In the ebb and flow of a series, this book feels as if it's a set up for something major. I'm going to keep plowing through the series one right after another. "
" Beginning to believe, against her wishes, Joanne loses Coyote (so sexy) during her battle to get to the bottom of the sleeping sickness. Morrison her aging super hero boss is actually beginning to believe too. "
" a little over the top with the whole astral plane, dream world, navajo gods, sleeping sickness, etc. lots of truth and hard choices. like the fact that we all have to learn to live with the choices we make. language. "
" I've given up on this series - I had to force myself to finish this one... not sure what it is, but I guess it's not my thing. "
" Still love the characters, but don't understand the ending. Love that Murphy is able to show growth and change (finally!), world building still a little flat... and did not understand the character's choices at the end. "
" Again, very good... there was a lot of details I'd forgotten or even missed the first time around. Five out of five. "
