"Chronicles of a British family from slightly before WWII until the late 40s. Amazing detail of the place and time, great character development. Much of this series is autobiographical of E.J. Howard's own privileged upbringing and experiences during the war. Complete engrossing."

" This is all pretty average stuff but once started on the family saga, I'm finding it hard to leave the plot unfinished. I feel the characters are losing their way somewhat but I do enjoy the well researched detail on WWII. "

" The third book in the series, and I really liked how the story started to focus in on the three girls: Lousie, Polly and Clary. The characterization and details in this saga are just top-notch. "

" Third book in the four volume Cazalet Chronicles. This one takes us from 1942 to the end of the war in Europe. Once again, it's not wildly exciting, but I am so wrapped up in these characters lives, I raced through the book. Excellent family saga stuff. "
