Publisher Description

Life is sweet for chocolate maker Chloe Lyon. Business is booming at her artisan chocolate-makers, Chocolate Wishes, in the picture-perfect Lancashire village of Sticklepond - not least because all of Chloe's sweet treats contain an inspirational prediction for each customer. If only her own life was as easy to read in the cards, perhaps Chloe could have foreseen being jilted at the altar.... But Chloe has long put thoughts of love behind her - after all, life is busy enough, especially as she tries to sort out her friends' tangled love lives and the village welcomes its new vicar, Raffy Sinclair.

However, the village rumour mill goes into overdrive when it is revealed that Raffy is the distinctly unorthodox ex-front man of rock band Dark Angels - and also happens to be Chloe's first love, who left her broken-hearted. Whilst Chloe tries to ignore this blast from her past, will she discover that wishes can come true when you least expect it?

A charming novel for chocoholics everywhere and perfect for fans of Katie Fforde, Jill Mansell, and Carole Matthews.

"I was pleasantly surprised by this bok. From the cover and blurb on the back I was expecting the usual OKish chick lit - but I really enjoyed it. Really likeable characters - with some chocolate and withcraft thrown in! Will be reading more by this author. "

" I'm not entirely sure where to start with this book. I found it hard to get into the book until about 200 pages into it. I found the three friends, Chloe, Felix and Poppy almost pathetic and very rarely likeable. I also felt like it was incredibly badly written (the excessive use of exclamation marks irritated me beyond belief), although I didn't expect it to be highly intellectual, I honestly felt like it had been written by a 15 year old. The end was completely rushed and unfinished in my opinion, if the author had spent less time going over unimportant, irrelevant, boring story lines at the beginning of the book then maybe she would have had more time to concentrate on the twists and the more interesting aspects of the story. All in all, a pretty dismal attempt at a love story. "

" Reminded me a little bit of Joanne Harris's Chocolat, with its combination of magic, chocolate and small village life, but something was missing. Maybe the plot was a little slow, or the relationship with ex-rocker-turned-vicar Raffy wasn't satisfying enough, but I can't really give this more than three stars. The fact the blurb gave away a crucial plot point we don't discover until halfway through the book didn't help - note to publisher: it's not a big mystery of it's on the back of the book! Still, it had chocolate in it, so I can't complain too much. "

" Het was een leuke, aangename chicklit, maar ik miste zo wat de grappige situaties en conversaties die je hebt in een Jill Mansell of Sophie Kinsella. Het duurt ook even voor de 'man van haar dromen' verschijnt en het hele verhaal kabbelt zo wat voort naar een toch wel leuk einde. Het had wat meer mogen zijn in mijn opinie ... Goed vertier voor tussendoor, dus 2 sterren! "

" An easy read, but I kept thinking that it was a poor imitation of Chocolat by Joanne Harris. Several themes, occult, lovable rogue and obviously chocolate echo. Chocolat was so much better though. Still, it wasn't bad and an easy holiday read. "
