Things aren't looking so good for Bernadette Murphy. With the breakup of her marriage, the sudden death of her father, and the announcement of her best friend's pregnancy, Bernadette finds herself careening toward rock bottom. So why stop short? She quits her job, gets herself banned - for life - from the mall, and goes on a late-night infomercial spending spree. To top it all off, her dog gets kicked out of obedience school - again.

Just when she thinks there's nothing left for the universe to throw at her, she discovers the one thing she needs the most: a reminder of her father's love. In the book of cryptograms he left behind, Bernie's father helps guide her through the pain that's consuming her. With each solved puzzle, her father's encoded lessons give Bernie the courage to face life head-on. And as her father always said, In life, you either choose to sing a rainbow, or you don't.

For Bernie, the singing is about to begin.

" Got the book free on Amazon. what a find. The story was great and moved along at a nice pace. Great light read with a great story. "

" What a delightful surprise this book turned out to be. The main character's growth through life's unimaginable curve balls of sorrow would level most. Somehow Bernie manages to grab onto life with both hands and pull herself out of the pit with a little help from some surprising sources. "

" 3.5 I really enjoyed the book, but it was predictable. It is also quite a tearjerker. I didn't think it would hit me as hard as it did, since I haven't gone through what "Bernie" goes through. That being said, my husband caught me crying (and laughing!) more than once. "

" This book is a downer. The only thing it has going for it is character development. The story lags and I kept hoping for something remotely exciting to happen. It never did. Somehow it kept me reading, but I think it was just so I could get on to my next book. Definitely would not recommend, unless you are up for what amounts to a character's depressing journal of a portion of her life. No thanks. Definitely do not agree with the positive reviews of this book. "
