Publisher Description

“A can’t-miss entry in one of the best urban-fantasy series currently being published.”—Booklist (starred review) As Chicago’s only professional wizard, Harry Dresden has faced demons, vampires, werewolves, dark sorcerers, and hosts of horrors from beyond the mortal realm. But nothing could have prepared him for this…   Long ago, Susan Rodriguez was Harry's Dresden’s lover—until she was attacked by his enemies, leaving her caught between humanity and the relentless bloodlust of the vampiric Red Court. She disappeared to South America, where she could fight both her savage gift and those who cursed her with it. Now, she needs Harry’s help more than ever.   For the vengeful Duchess of the Red Court has discovered a secret Susan has long kept from everyone—including Harry—and she plans to use it. To prevail, Harry may have to unleash the full fury of his untapped power—and he may have no choice but to embrace the darkness within himself.   Because this time, he’s fighting to save his child.

"This is the first title that breaks from the two word pun in the series and I thought it was a cheap trick to over emphasize this particular story line. I was wrong. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed this series. However, this book is hands down my favorite. The ending of this novel should make this book a classic American literary masterpiece. I've been processing the book for the last three days. Still taking it in. Picking up the series is worth it, if only to get to this culmination of events. What a great read."

Quotes

  • “There’s plenty to like in this most recent volume in the Dresden Files. Harry continues to be a complex character who marches to his own drummer...[and] the secondary characters continue to be wonderful, especially Molly, Murphy, and Sanya.”

    — RT Book Reviews
  • “Fast-paced and compelling...Butcher is deft at relieving some of the tension and grimness with bursts of gallows humor that keep readers coming back for more.”

    — Publishers Weekly
  • “Narrator James Marsters...uses just the right amount of snarkiness and wit to make his characters sound real. His female characters are effective, and his pace adds to the excitement.”

    — AudioFile
  • “The taut and sometimes twisty plot is full of surprises and changes for Harry and his friends and family. Changes is a compelling installment in what continues to be an outstanding series...After the cliff-hanger ending, readers will be clamoring for the next book. A can’t-miss entry in one of the best urban fantasy series currently being published.”

    — Booklist (starred review)
  • “This excellent twelfth entry in Butcher’s...Dresden Files series...shows the author’s continuing ability to keep readers and listeners up way past midnight...Actor/series narrator James Marsters delivers his usual pitch-perfect performance, personifying Dresden and mastering all sorts of creatures with the enthusiasm his listeners have come to expect...Highly recommended.”

" Quite good. I read it as a combination of an ebook and an audiobook, depending on the situation, and as usual James Marsters did an excellent job narrating. Starker ending than expected, but fitting, as it's not a happy story, although still inspiring and humorous in places. "

" There is little room to review this book AND not leave spoilers. The title is Changes and that into it's self is a spoiler. But the book titles have always been a spoiler. If you like the other books and you have read this far, read it. You will not like all of the outcome but it is a great book. "
