The acclaimed #1 New York Times bestselling author presents a spellbinding tale of a mother's tragic loss and one man's last chance at gaining salvation.

Can we save ourselves, or do we rely on others to do it? Is what we believe always the truth?

One moment June Nealon was happily looking forward to years full of laughter and adventure with her family, and the next, she was staring into a future that was as empty as her heart. Now her life is a waiting game. Waiting for time to heal her wounds, waiting for justice. In short, waiting for a miracle to happen.

For Shay Bourne, life holds no more surprises. The world has given him nothing, and he has nothing to offer the world. In a heartbeat, though, something happens that changes everything for him. Now, he has one last chance for salvation, and it lies with June's eleven-year-old daughter, Claire. But between Shay and Claire stretches an ocean of bitter regrets, past crimes, and the rage of a mother who has lost her child.

Would you give up your vengeance against someone you hate if it meant saving someone you love? Would you want your dreams to come true if it meant granting your enemy's dying wish?

Once again, Jodi Picoult mesmerizes and enthralls readers with this story of redemption, justice, and love. Download and start listening now!

" I really enjoyed this book. I read a lot of Jodi Picoult books a few years ago, and did find them to get quite predictable. But having had a break from them for a while, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. I read it in less than a week, and given that I have a 9 month old baby, that is no mean feat! "

" Piccoult writes very well and develops such interesting characters. She really did her homework on this book! The main idea of this book compelled me to finish it, but I was kind of disappointed with the ending. And I wish the book didn't drop the F-bomb so much! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Lucy | 2/8/2014

" This book was a great read for me. It's a lot different than a lot of books I read. It really made me think. It talks a lot about religion and morals, which forced me to reconsider what I believe. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Diana P | 2/6/2014

" Typical Picoult, Man commits a double homicide and is on death row. He wants to donate his heart to the victims sister. Lawyer goes to court to fight for his right to do so. Slow in the middle, but fast paced at end. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Janie | 1/30/2014

" Typical Piccoult book, taking a controversy and creating characters to explain various sides and points of view. This time a convicted murderer wants to donate his heart to someone who needs him. He's on death row and will die anyway, so should he be allowed to chose his time and means of death to allow someone else to live? Somewhat entertaining, but nothing outstanding. "

" Loved how she wrote the chapters from the different points of view. Too bad she didn't write any chapters from Shay's point of view. Great book, but I did find some things a little far fetched for me. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Nik | 5/19/2011

" As always Jodi has managed to take a controversial situation and made the reader think and re-examine their own opinions regarding the subject, this time it was about capital punishment and the rights of the condemed, with a mixture of faith and religion thrown in.

    Great read! "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Aoife | 5/18/2011

" Seriously depressing stuff, questioned why I kept reading but in fairness I did enjoy it in the end.
She seems to just write about people tackling impossible situations to make you question what you would do. After 2 of Jodi's books I think I will focus more on the lighter side of life! "

" This was the first Picoult book I read, picked it up in the bargain section. It was an okay read, but really dragged on. It has an open ending so if you don't like when she does that, don't read this one! "
