Publisher Description

Vita's gift shop would do better if she ran it as a business, not as somewhere to daydream. But she's not one to tell herself off: she leaves that to Tim, her ex. Active, outdoorsy Oliver runs his trees-surgery business as calmly as his home - but his love life is intensely private. When Vita and Oliver's paths cross at a pear tree, there's a chance of something blossoming. As spring turns to summer, both Vita and Oliver are given second chances. Bu will they take them - or walk away?

"The second of Freya North's books I've read, and I loved it as much as the first. I was engaged with the characters immediately, and thought about them when I wasn't reading the book. That's a sure sign of a god book in my book!"

" My first chic lit book... It's lovely and the back drop is amazing... "

" I was torn between giving this 2 stars and 3. It is a light fluffy chick lit book and therefore is a pleasant read. However it did feel like it dragged a bit and could have been trimmed in length. Very predictable- woman just separated from her unpleasant boyfriend but still has to deal with him as she co-owns a shop with him, widower with a son comes to her rescue with an infestation of wasps. A few misunderstandings and fireworks later they get together. "

" Picked up Chances at the library because of the beautiful cover. Which has teached me not to judge a book solely by its cover... I didn't like it. The plot dragged along and I didn't care much for the characters. A lot of their actions (or "thoughts" even) felt unnatural to me. I still finished it as I don't like to give up on a book I've started, but I really had to work to get through it, and I feel chicklit shouldn't be hard work, that sort of defies the reasons I read these stories. Freya North is just not my cup of tea I guess. "

" Too boring. I can't see any interesting plot or anything that made me keeps going. I had to literally push myself to still continuing this but i just can't. Please dear god no more love-syrupy kind of books. "

" I loved this. Freya North writes kindly and her novels are light hearted and enjoyable. She examines relationships in all their various forms and (unlike many others in thei genre) refrains from the seemingly obligatory man-bashing which is a breath of fresh air. "
