" I think this is a great book to read to your 4th grader. Well because that is what I did exactly. Both he and I enjoyed learning the story of Praiseworthy and Jack and their adventures in going to California for the gold rush. It even kept me the adult entertained it definetly will keep a child's attention to. A fun addition to read when studying about the gold rush. "

" One of my favorite authors, this book was a favorite of mine to read in the 4th grade classroom. This kids all loved it, and I loved reading it. The characters are great and the adventure and mishaps are fun to follow. The butler and his small master are on a ship bound for California to strike it rich in the gold rush so that they can save the boy's aunt's house where he lives with his sister and Aunt. It is a fun read and the boy grows up a lot out west, as does the Butler - Praiseworthy. A fun quick read! "
