Publisher Description

An influenza plague decimates humanity…

A man loses his wife and baby daughter…

Six years after a pandemic devastates the human population, former rock star Chris Price finally makes it from New York to Britain to reunite with his brother. His passage leaves him scarred, in body and mind, by exposure to humankind at its most desperate and dangerous. But another ordeal awaits him beyond the urban ruins, in an idyllic country refuge where Chris meets a woman, Pauline, who is largely untouched by the world’s horrors. Together, Chris and Pauline undertake the most difficult facet of Chris’s journey: confronting grief, violence, and the man Chris has become. They will discover whether the human spirit is capable of surviving and loving again in this darker, harder world.

"Absolutely phenomenal book, especially for a first time author! I would definitly recommend it and will make it part of my dystopian book club I am leading at the local library. Katherine's style is superb and she really understands character development and how to hook a reader. I haven't felt this invested in a group of characters in a LONG time. Well done madam and I look forward to your next novel!"

" An interesting and scarey look into the future? And a bargain too! "

" For most of the book I didn't understand that the author's goal primary goal was simply to write a romance, and once I finally accepted that she didn't seem to care enough about the dystopian aspect to flesh out details (transmission of the plague is never specified, symptoms aren't addressed until near the end of the book, the mail service mysteriously keeps running throughout), I finished the book feeling disappointed that she didn't do more with her great premise, and impatient for the characters to come to their senses and just get together already to the story could end. " I thought this was a really good first novel. There was a moment where I was lost in the group of people that Chris was with, but other than that, I enjoyed the story. I can't imagine what it would be like to live through a plague. "

" I have always loved dystopian/post-apocalyptic fiction since reading "Alas Babylon". The character development was well done. It's not full of thrills and gasps, but more about the emotional aspect of surviving. "

" This was an excellent book. Though it's post-apocalyptic, it focuses more on the characters and the aftermath of what they've suffered, making it more character driven. There are a few action-oriented scenes in here, but this book is really about the character. More complete review to come. "

" Way too slow going for me. The main character, Chris, is broken. He has had so much hurt and death in his life to ever really recover. His relationship with the other characters is troublesome. The plot is very slow. "
