Publisher Description

Jonas Piedmont Beaumont has had a hard life and learned at a young age how hard life can be. Two marriages, a treacherous battle with the bottle, assorted midlife and moral dilemmas, and a few decades as a homicide detective haven't convinced him otherwise. When Beau and his new partner Sue Danielson are assigned the murder of an elderly woman torched to death in her bed, Beau finds himself distracted by Sue's difficulties at home. Distraction turns to terror as Sue and Beau find themselves caught up in a series of events that will leave them and their carefully constructed investigation shattered.

"Breach of Duty covers Homicide Investigator P. J. Beaumont's last case as a Seatle police officer. Its really about two cases. In one a woman is burned after she is murdered and a fortune is found in her garage. It is exposed that she was not a nice person. The second case involves the bones of a Native American Shaman being used in a role playing game. A curse follows the bones and murder abounds. The story was well paced."

" Beaumont is has 2 murder cases in this book. The first case has to do with arson/murder of an older widow with $300,000 in a refrigerator in the garage. The second case involves the bones of an Indian Shaman and the curse that follows those involved with his bones. "

" I love the JP Beaumont series from JA Jance, and this was a good one, a page-turner. She is not afraid to address issues. Beaumont's character is complicated and developed. Each book builds the character, though each book can stand alone, too. An exciting, well-written series. "

" Tape - J p Beaumont a good character, a little gruff aroundd the edges. One of the cases that he and his partner Sue Danielson are working involves the bones of an Indian Shaman. There is a curse on whoever handles the bones since they were unnaturally disturbed. "

" I was not impressed...other than the (slightly soggy) nostalgic Seattle flavor, this book has little to offer beyond the tiresome trite plot of the run-of-the-mill mystery. And it would be nice to find an editor who knows the difference between "hark" and "harken!" "
