What if you went to a school where it was actually all right to be who you really are? That's the enchanting place David Levithan has created in his highly acclaimed first novel. But even if the gay kids and the straight kids all get along just fine, even if it's all right for the quarterback to be a cross dresser named Infinite Darlene and the cheerleaders to ride Harleys into the pep rally, the road to true love is still a strange and winding path, as Paul discovers when he meets the boy of his dreams. Charming, funny, delightful, and utterly heartwarming, this YA novel speaks with clarity and depth about our need to love and be loved. Download and start listening now!

" Sweet, real, and adorable. I honestly hope the world can become like Paul's town sometime in the future. When the Star Quarterback is a drag queen, people of all sexes walk the halls with pride and confidence...well...dating may be a little more confusing if everyone openly accepts all sexual orientations...but how wonderful world this would be :) "

" A really strange book... I'm not sure whether I should like it, or think it's crap. But there's something about it that's good, so, yeah, three stars. "

" This is a very quick read. It can be finished over the course of just a few hours. I read it in one day. Initially, the book had me worried. Levithan paints a picture of a town where almost everyone is okay with the LGBT community. This worried me as I felt it would create false expectations for any young gay teens that may pick up this book. But then I realized: this is precisely why we read books; to escape from the world which we know is so cruel. Over the course of reading this I became enveloped by this story and grew to really care about these characters. So what if the story is cliche/played out (although usually with a straight couple, not a gay one)? I enjoyed the story and I felt a great sense of calm and happiness while reading it. I recommend this for anyone, but especially any gay teens who may be struggling with their identity. This book could be a great source of comfort. "

" I like reading booka which normaize diversity in teens or characters of any age, and I liked the characters, but the high school was just too ggos/wildly accepting to be convincing, especially without any explanation. "

" This was a quirky little book. The world in it is accepting, and the kids are all really vibrant and interesting. The focus was on the typical themes for most YA, dating and dealing with family and friends, but it is a gay protagonist. "

" Sometimes I forget how good young adult books can be. David Leviathan has proven me a fan and though this book may have some cliche cheesy moments they never come out as cheesy and/or cliche. I was left beaming and a returned convert to the possibility of welcoming love. "

" This was my "listen to on the way to work book" this last week. I used to think that listening to Twilight was bad... but nothing could be cheesier than listening to a teenage gay romance novel...

That being said, it was kind of a fun story for what it was. "

" A very funny, very sweet love story with a twist. The world the characters live in is almost utopically accepting of all, but I guess that was done on purpose. "

" My absolute favorite gay themed book in existence. Boy meets Boy transported me to a world where gay couples are free to make out in the hallway and no one will even bat an eyelid. A hopeful book that makes you realize that as Paul says It is a wonderful world "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Ralph Jon | 5/12/2011

" It's a story about a young gay boy finding love and conquering the everyday complications and drama that high school has to offer. I really like this book. I've read it so many times. The plot is simple but the way it is written is very entertaining for any gay boy. "
