Endover, New Hampshire, looks innocent. But below its surface an ancient and powerful thirst boils fiercely. When two girls go missing, only one person can find them: private investigator Maxine Stuart.

No other living mortal knows as much about the undead as Mad Maxie. But the dark force controlling Endover will use that knowledge to strengthen his hold on the town and on her. Not even Lou Malone, the man Maxie most desires, can convince her to abandon her crusade against a madman's yearning for power and resurrected love.

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Marsha | 5/17/2012

" Definitely liked this book. This book should be read right after Twilight Hunger. It's not easy to determine the order of books since author created "filler books" later in the game to expand the stories. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Britta | 1/15/2012

" The human side of Shayne's vampire world. Elegant and lovely. I almost liked Maxine and Lou's story (both of whom are human) better than some of the vampires' stories. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Maggie Hargrave | 6/14/2011

" I didn't realize it was a part of a series (which may have cleared up some confusion), and it didn't focus as much on the vampire as I was expecting. I'm not sure that it was good enough to go back and read the first books. "

" Following along in the lines of it's predecessor: Good romance read! "
