LAPD homicide detective Peter Decker and his wife, Rina Lazarus, will be blindsided by a brutal multiple murder in this twisting tale of suspense from New York Times bestselling author Faye Kellerman.

Someone has broken into the exclusive Coyote Ranch compound of billionaire developer Guy Kaffey and viciously gunned him down, along with his wife and four employees. It doesn’t take long for Peter and his trusted detectives to figure out that the gruesome killings must be an inside job. But was the job pure murder/robbery or something even more twisted? With leads taking the team across LA, up and down the Golden State, and into Mexico, Decker is plenty busy, and plenty thankful not to have to worry about Rina getting caught up in this deadly case. Rina is out of harm’s way, serving on a jury.

But then a chance encounter with a court translator who needs her help leads Rina into the terrifying heart of her husband’s murder investigations, and straight into the path of a gang of ruthless killers. Blindman’s Bluff is a riveting mile-a-minute thrill ride from a formidable master of her craft.

Quotes & Awards

  • “Solid…Kellerman expertly keeps interlocking investigations moving along with a minimum of confusion but plenty of doubt as to the guilty party or parties.”

    Publishers Weekly

  • “Kellerman nicely balances Decker’s personal life—his Jewish orthodoxy and his relationship with his wife and moody teenage daughter—with his professional responsibilities as an LAPD homicide detective. Joined once again by his trusted sounding boards, detectives Oliver and Dunn, Decker is gradually able to weed through the suspects and put his many questions to rest. Another entertaining entry in the long-running series; sure to please Decker-Lazarus fans.”

    Booklist

  • “A brutal slaughter at a billionaire’s ranch launches the newest twisted thriller from the brilliant mind of Kellerman. The familiar players are all here and do their part to unravel the truth behind this vicious crime. In addition to providing Byzantine plotlines, Kellerman excels as the procedural aspects of the story. Walking in the shoes of Peter Decker is always a rewarding experience.”

" Kellerman's plotting is great-lots of characters and plot twists. But her style! OMG! Awful. Do I really need to know what every character is wearing? White tee shirt and jeans, blue tee shirt and jeans, blue oxford and khakis. Who cares?! There were times I was ready to put this one down, but the mystery was good and I had to see how it turned out. Lots of typos, too. I read it as a library book and on one page someone had actually crossed off an obviously incorrect character name and written in the right one. Where are the copy editors these days? "

" A good mystery, not a real page turner, but it kept my interest. Whenever I pick up a Decker/Lazarus mystery, I forget that they've been an enjoyable read. I need to remember them and see if there are any that I've misssed. "

" The latest book about the character of Peter Decker, a LAPD homicide detective, is a good as the previous blockbusters. Decker is awakened at 3 am to oversee the crime scene investigation of the slaying of a billionaire and his family. Since the Kaffeys had four on site guards as well as a state of the art security system at the ranch, it is obvious that the murder is an inside job. Meanwhile, Decker's wife, Rina, is called for jury duty. While she is on a break, a blindman approaches and asks her to describe 2 men he has overheard discussing the Kaffey murder.Somehow the men suspect that Rina and the blindman are aware of their conversation and they get targeted for elimination. Now, Decker must solve the murder before his wife is the next victim. "

" I love this series. I think I have read them all. The stories are strong, the characters are wonderful and I love the Orthodox Jewish details..All around great. This book was a notch up, because it focused on Rina and Peter, some of the books have forgotten the characters.. Loved it. "
