An edgy book for teens that spans the gap between YA and adult fiction.

Life after high-school is tough enough without having to go 15 rounds with your inner demon. Val Shapiro is just your ordinary, part-demon, teenaged vampire hunter with a Texas drawl. And a pet hellhound named Fang. Soon enough she finds herself deep in the underbelly of the city, discovering the secrets of the Demon Underground and fighting to save those she loves. Whether they love her back or not.

" I loved this! And it was a free Kindle book, too! Ms. Blue has a delightful sense of humor that she infuses into her characters while simultaneously building tension. Rather than the typical YA rants, she delves into her characters' interpersonal relationships with a poignancy seemingly born of experience. Even better, she has managed to find a unique twist in the fantasy genre. I am so looking forward to reading everything she has written. :) 4.5 stars "

" I got this book awhile back for free on the kindle and it sat there unread for quite sometime. Once I began reading Bite Me and the first few chapters were dull, uneventful and really didn't attract me to the story. I stuck with it and was pretty satisfied with the development though it did feel like the book came up short. I also hate cliffhanger endings. Though I grow tired of the teenage heroine, I do like strong female leads, this book made you forget the young age and let you get into the turmoil of the inner demon. It was enjoyable and after those initial few chapters, I am eager to continue to the next book in the series. "

" In the beginning, Val meets this dog Fang that can talk to her because he is half bloodhound. Val and this policeman work together at night to try and stop all the deaths that have been going around. Overall, this book was very interesting because it is very action packed and when reading the story, I felt as if I was right there. I also love books that involve vampires, so this was a must read for me! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the Vampire Diaries or the Twilight Series. "

" This was an interesting book. YA but fast paced. I liked her struggle with her succubus side at 18 and a virgin (she is 1/8 demon). Made for interesting situations. "

" I got about half way through this, before I stopped. Too cliche. Parent's kicked her our because she was "too different" and "corrupting her sister". And mostly it felt like a Buffy wannabe, except not the cool seasons with Spike and Angel, but the awful one with Riley. Ugh. "

" This book was okay. The characters were kind of flat. I never felt sucked in, like I needed to finish it. It wasn't a total waste of time, but it wasn't great either. "

" An interesting foray into female supernatural narrative. An alternative history is the backdrop for Val's coming-of-age story. Parker Blue does an excellent job creating Val's world in stories and snippets, allowing for the reader to discover this reality as Val does. "
