"I hovered between three and four stars for this book, but the characterization and dialogue, as usual, pushed me up a notch. The plot and humor are also good. I have read this book many times, and although not one of my favorites, I still have no problem re-reading it over and over. "

" The story/plot (or lack thereof) was not at all interesting. It was wasting a time I didn't like hero or heroine. "

" This is the first Jayne Ann Krentz book that I read and I enjoyed it very much. It is a quick read romance novel with very likeable characters. "

" Definitely written in the 80s. Not a huge fan of the man who knows the woman better than she knows herself routine but there was some cute connections between the characters. Eh "

" This is an entertaining alpha-male type romance. Fairly predictable but a fun escape read. There are some funny bits about a bad southwestern poet throughout. The female lead is somewhat passive (yet not), which may be annoying to some. Spicy. "

" Again I was reminded of my youth, devouring romances where the equality of the sexes is so unbalanced - the man is definitely in charge. This one had no premarital sex but still some steamy scenes. It is very mid 1980s. "

" When I re-read the description after finishing the book I realized it was exactly as described. While an enjoyable quick read it certainly did not suffer from too much subtlety! There is a lot of Southwest imagery (I should I seen this on the cover!) to accompany the very detailed romance. "

" My favorite part of this book besides the romance between Amber and Gray is the sub-plot revolving around the Western poet, Sherborne Ulysses Twitchell. JAK brings just the right touch of humor to the story with the scholarly war about the excruciatingly bad poetry of SUT. "
