Betsy Nelson can hardly accept her father's retirement, but she knows his failing heart demands it. She leaves her life in the city and returns home to care for him. It hurts to see a new pastor taking her papa's place, but Betsy didn't expect Pastor William Covington to be so charming and handsome. The Covington family's wealth and status in Buffalo hold no appeal for William. His greatest desire is to minister to others. He is delighted, then, when a church in Walnutport, Pennsylvania, calls him to be their pastor. Can he ever fill the shoes of Reverend Nelson, who has lovingly served this small canal community for years?
When they clearly disagree on methods of ministry, can Betsy and William find common ground on which to work together for the better of the townspeople? After being left once before at the altar, William vowed to serve the Lord alone. But that was before Betsy's return.

"I really liked this book, that Mrs. Bevens was a real pain to everyone, I think I knew from the start that they Betsy and william would get together, everything seemed to put them together. It was a easy reading book, didn't use big words, it was so a layman like me could understand, it was very good, wouldn't mind having more books like this to read. At least Mrs. Bevens will be moving on, so they can have a less stressful life." — Jeremy (4 out of 5 stars)

" A good follow-up to the second book. When I saw the title and that it was about Betsy, I was sure I wouldn't like it after coming to dislike Betsy so much in the first book. The author pulled it off though, and it was another quick, feel-good read. "

" Much like Wanda's other books. I always enjoy them. They are fairly predictable, but a great read with no swearing or behavior I don't like to read and plenty of people coming to Christ. =) "
" It's predictable from the start, but Brunstetter writes a nice story that reads the way one wants it to read, so since I picked it up with that in mind, I was not disappointed. "
