“Murder, teenage bullying, sleazy adults, and good police work add up to another fine entry by Jance.”

The Oklahoman

Betrayal of Trust is the twentieth mystery by New York Times bestseller J.A. Jance to feature Seattle p.i. J. P. Beaumont—and it is another surefire winner from the author the Chattanooga Times calls, “One of the best—if not the best.” When Beau discovers a snuff film recorded on a smart phone—a horrific crime that has a devastating effect on two troubled teens—his investigation unleashes a firestorm that blazes all the way up through the halls of Washington state government. Betrayal of Trust is certain to win this phenomenal crime fiction master (“In the elite company of Sue Grafton and Patricia Cornwell”—Flint Journal) a wealth of new fans while enthralling the army of devoted readers already addicted to the potent Jance magic.

"I rarely if ever read mysteries except for the Maisie Dobbs series which means I have never read anything by J.A. Jance. This book was my book club selection for this month. Oh my gosh I read this in TWO days, it was fantastic. I also loved that the book takes place in my home state of Washington. The crime was horrific and that's what turns me off about most mysteries, but this story was so well told and J.P. and Mel were detectives I could relate to. Now the question is will I begin at the beginning with the J.P. Beaumont series or just read the next one in the series."

" Jance has written another J.P Beaumont mystery. This one features many sites in my home town. Its a good story and a quick read. "

" Even though this was not an edge of your seat type of mystery, I really enjoyed this book. Something about Jance's "Beaumont" books, and the way she writes in this characters voice, that make them fun to read, even without near misses with serial killers. "

" First one of the J.P. Beaumont novels I've read. Liked the book and intend to look for others in this series. Interesting to see how they follow the evidence and slowly the case evolves. This evolution doesn't take you where you think it's going, but it's an interesting journey. The main characters hold your interest and you're left still wanting to know more about them. "

" I didn't think this was as good as her earlier J.P. Beaumont books. It focuses on what seems to be the problem of the day--bullying and its sometimes awful consequences. Unfortunately, the theme made it easy to spot the killer. "

" The Washington governor finds a snuff film on the phone that belongs to her spouse's grandson, Josh, and calls in J. P. Beaumont for help. Beau works with his partner in life, Mel Soames to find the girl. It appears that Josh has been bullied and soon he has hanged himself. Beau and Mel are led to Janie House, a place for disturbed teens in Seattle. Olympia Prep, an expensive school which the daughters of the governor attend provide most of the volunteer peer tutors. A small side story within leads to Beau's unknown father. "

" As always, I enjoyed listening to this J.P. Beaumont novel. Just light, escapist fiction. This one had the Governor of Washington calling on J.P. and his wife to investigate the making of a "snuff video" found on the cell phone of her husband's grandson. "
