Brigitte Gabriel lost her childhood to militant Islam. In 1975 she was 10 years old and living in Southern Lebanon when militant Muslims from throughout the Middle East poured into her country and declared jihad against the Lebanese Christians. It became the first front in what has become the worldwide jihad of fundamentalist Islam against non-Muslim peoples. For seven years, Brigitte and her parents lived in an underground bomb shelter without running water or electricity and very little food.

Because They Hate is a political wake-up call. Brigitte warns that the United States is threatened by fundamentalist Islamic theology in the same way Lebanon was; radical Islam will stop at nothing short of domination of all non-Muslim countries. Fiercely articulate and passionately committed, Gabriel both tells her own story and outlines the history, social movements, and religious divisions that have led to this critical historical conflict.

" This book is very informative, but scary! It is a true story and an intense warning from Brigitte Gabriel. I found it very depressing and heavy reading. However, it is important to know the reality of terrorism and what we can do as Amerian citizens. "

" Excellent book. Very heavy and sobering as it is all her true story of survival and witnessing Islamic terrorism in Lebanon. I believe this is a "must-read", that we should all be aware of what is going on with terrorism, and that it is far from over. More than that, she gives statistics about our country that really suprised me and ways that we can fight terrorism. The first, is to learn and become aware! "

" Written by a survivor of the Lebanese conflicts of the '80s and '90s. The writer grew up a Christian in an area of Southern Lebanon that was gradually taken over by a Muslim militia. She eventually made it to the United States. Book carries a lot of credibility since she lived through the experience; most of her assertions are backed up with facts/actual events. "

" This is an EXTREMELY interesting book. It brings to light many things about terrorism and has actually swayed my presidential vote. The author is definitely an extremist so I wouldn't take everything she says to heart but she does know alot of facts and having witnessed them first hand, it brought to light alot about the world, muslims, terrorism, and why I think the war in Iraq is necessary. I really think everyone should read this and let me know what they think. "
