"As I read this, I wavered between giving this book three or four stars. I was aggravated by some entries because Jennings seemed to leave out some important points. For example, it was interesting to learn that it can actually be healthy to eat your own boogers, but he failed to mention that most people, especially kids, don't wash their hands after picking. Yeah, your own germs won't hurt you, but what about the rest of us?! It is Jennings wit and humor that nudged the fourth star out of me. I nearly popped my own eye out of its socket while reading, "Never sneeze with your eyes open--your eyeballs will pop out!" (pp. 145-147). There is a multitude of pop culture references sprinkled throughout the book, and I caught them because I'm the same age as Jennings. I think a lot of those references would be lost on readers born after, say, 1980, and perhaps before 1945 or so. If you watched *Little House on the Prairie,* *Punky Brewster,* and *The Breakfast Club," you'll probably get most of the jokes."

" Very interesting book full of all those myths that you heard as a kid. It was amazing to read it around my husband and family and just call out the myth to see their initial response and then prove them wrong again and again. Having all the scientific data to back it up made you feel all warm and fuzzy and safe inside knowing that you won't die/get sick/lose some appendage/etc from these legends. Highly recommended if you want quick little reads to keep you occupied and full of fun party conversation starters. "

" Great book by an awesome guy. Not quite "Maphead" good but certainly worth a read. I was amazed to find out that some of the myths I thought were false were actually true, and vice versa. It is amazing what a little scientific method can do. "

" Great book! Listened to the author-narrated audio book version on a road trip. I like how he divided the myths into different categories and tackled them according to what they dealt with (seasons, eyes, bathroom, bodily harm, sickness, etc). I learned quite a bit. Gave me a few chuckles as well. "

" I enjoyed this book. Many of these sayings my parents used and I used some with my boys. Some I already knew were false others I was surprised at whether they were true or false. The background of where they came from or why they are true mostly true or false was interesting. "

" This was a quick read with some interesting sections. I was a little confused by the "truth" meters at the end of each section as the narrative didn't always jive with it. Overall, it was a pretty good. "

" Ken Jennings, former Jeopardy champion, has researched the myths that our mothers have always warned us with and found the real truth behind them. He alerts us to whether they are true or false and what to do with them. "
