" Another charming Miss Read book, with "troubles" affecting our villagers -- an auto accident, teacher jealousy, an uproar about fixing up the bedraggled old cemetery -- all gets resolved but it's enjoyable to read the "sniping" and gossiping :) "

" Another blissful tale from the Cotswolds! Dissension at the school, longings in the parsonage, death, accidents, court dates - all the stuff of normal life. I wish I could live in this gentle, amusing, poignant and wonderful book. I did enjoy my few hours' visit... or was it a few months? "

" A lovely escape read, into an English village where the "battles" are never very bloody. Along about March, when the snow is dirty and the weather can still be nasty, I long to escape to the Cotswolds and Miss Read's villages. Fortunately, all that's needed is a library card. "

" I liked this book. The story takes place in a small community in the rural countryside. Interesting characters and a glimpse in the lives of a variety of people. "

" Sweet stories set in a cozy little English village. Several plots going on, from refurbishing the Church's graveyard, to exonerating Dotty Harmer from a bicycle/auto accident. All is set just right in the end, enjoyable. "

" Lost a bet with my wife and had to read this. It wasn't as bad as I thought. It was cute and funny, but really just much ado about nothing. It was like watching a British TV show about characters living in a quaint English village. "
